Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Service Description

PlacePix is a massively multiplayer pixel art canvas painted onto a real-world map. The core rule: to place a pixel, you must physically be at that location. Your device's GPS determines which tiles you can paint. Pixels placed by all users form a single shared, persistent canvas visible to everyone.

3. Accounts

• One account per person. You may not create or operate more than one account.
• Username rules. Usernames must be 3–16 characters and may contain letters, numbers, underscores, and hyphens. Usernames impersonating others are prohibited.
• Account security. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password. Notify us at support@placepix.app if you suspect unauthorized access.
• Age requirement. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.

4. Rules of Conduct

You agree not to:

• Use bots, scripts, automation, or any non-human means to place pixels or simulate movement
• Spoof, fake, or manipulate your GPS location — detection results in a permanent ban with no appeal
• Create or operate multiple accounts for any reason, including evading a ban
• Place explicit, hateful, discriminatory, violent, or harmful pixel content on the canvas
• Attempt to exploit, hack, reverse-engineer, or disrupt the App or its servers
• Harass or impersonate other users

Violation of any rule may result in immediate account suspension or permanent termination.

5. Content

• Shared canvas. Pixels you place become part of the permanent shared public canvas and are visible to all users worldwide.
• No ownership claim. You do not own the pixels you place; they are contributions to a shared, ever-changing canvas that any other user may repaint.
• Content removal. PlacePix reserves the right to remove, overwrite, or block any pixel content that violates these Terms, without notice.
• No privacy on the canvas. The canvas is fully public. Do not place information you wish to keep private near identifiable locations.

6. Termination

We may suspend or permanently terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms. In particular:

• GPS spoofing results in a permanent ban with no appeal.
• Use of bots or multiple accounts results in a permanent ban.

Upon termination, your account data is deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Your pixel placements may remain on the shared canvas in unattributed form.

7. Disclaimer

The canvas is user-generated content. PlacePix does not endorse, verify, or take responsibility for any individual pixel placements or patterns created by users. The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, PlacePix shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the App.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be communicated via an in-app notice or through the App Store update notes. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Portugal. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Portugal.

11. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
