This Privacy Policy describes how PlacePix ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the PlacePix mobile application ("App") and related services.
We collect the minimum data necessary to operate the shared canvas:
- Auto-generated nickname — created automatically at first sign-in (e.g.
pixel1234). You can change your nickname later inside the app - Google or Apple account identifier — when you sign in with Google (Android, web) or Apple (iOS), we receive a stable opaque identifier that links your sign-in to your PlacePix profile.
- Email address — provided by Google or Apple at sign-in. We use it solely to link your account and to verify ownership for account deletion.
- Pixel placements — the tile coordinates and color of pixels you place on the shared canvas
- IP address and country — recorded at sign-in and last activity for abuse prevention and ban enforcement
- Exact GPS coordinates — your precise location is used only on-device to determine which tile you are standing in; it is never transmitted to our servers, never stored, and never shared
- Location history — we do not record, log, or retain any movement data
- Your real name, phone number, or contacts
- Advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking data
- Third-party analytics data — we do not integrate any third-party analytics or advertising SDKs

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for any commercial purpose.
- Account data (username, nickname, Google/Apple account ID, email, IP) is retained until you delete your account. On deletion, identifiers are erased and the account is marked deleted
- Pixel placements are permanent contributions to the shared public canvas; they are not deleted when you delete your account (they become unattributed)
You can delete your account at any time:
- iOS: open the PlacePix app and go to Account → Delete Account
- Android: open the PlacePix app and go to Account → Delete Account, or use the public Delete Account page with your Google account

We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data. No system is 100% secure. If you discover a vulnerability, please report it to privacy@placepix.app.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be communicated via an in-app notice or through the App Store update notes. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of Portugal.
